I’m not trying to hard sell anybody, but it is always nice to get a recommendation. Finding a good web host, among the billions out there, ain’t easy. But personally, I’m very happy with Westhost.

They provide ‘virtual private server’ hosting, which is a little more expensive than some, but gives you a lot more control over how your site runs, configuring your server, etc. I found them through WebmasterWorld, and I figure if it’s good enough for one of the most popular webmaster forums in the world, it’s good enough for me.
